One day, changing lives... One at a time.
The
Plan:
On September 22, 2012, dentists from around Kentucky and beyond will gather
at the Lexington Dental Center to help improve the dental health of
people who will have begun gathering as much as a day in advance to
receive free help. The doors will open at 7:00am and remain open
until 7:00 pm, helping as many as possible.
The
Facts:
Dr. Damon Pleasant of the Lexington Center is a graduate of the
University of Kentucky School of Dentistry and has been providing
services to the greater Central Kentucky area for over 40 years. Dr.
Pleasant is a recognized leader, both in Dentistry and in the
community. The Lexington Dental Center strives to remain on the
cutting edge of dental technology offering the latest advances in care
to their patients.
Recognizing a need to give back to the community, The Lexington Dental
center has become affiliated with a national organization founded to
answer that need. The organization is Dentistry from the Heart.
The
History:
2001: The first Dentistry from the Heart event takes place at
Monticciolo Family & Sedation Dentistry in New Port Richey, Florida.
2005: DFTH events help 900 patients and provide over $150,000 in free
dentistry in one year. Ladd Dental Group in Indiana signs on as
the second host location.
2006:
Events are held at seven host locations across the country.
2007:
Dentistry From The Heart becomes a registered non-profit organization.
Total donations to date surpass $1 million and over 5,000 patients.
2008:
Dentistry From The Heart events help 5,500 patients and provide more
than $1.5 million in free dentistry. Events are held at more than 60
host locations in 29 states across the country.
2009:
Dentistry From The Heart events helped 12,000 patients and provided
more than $3 million in free dentistry. Events were held at more than
100 host locations in 37 states across the country.
2010:
Dentistry From The Heart has more than 200 events scheduled. . The
organization is helps over 30,000 patients and provides millions of
dollars in free dental care.
2011: The first ever Dentistry From The Heart event in Kentucky was
scheduled in Lexington Kentucky for October 1, 2011 at the Lexington
Dental Center, with a goal of providing over $50,000 in dental care to
at least 250 deserving people... sucessfully.
