Dr. Damon Pleasant
D.M.D., F.A.G.D.

 


Dr. Damon G. Pleasant was born in Chillicothe, Ohio.  His father was the cheif purchasing agent for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad.

Soon after birth, the Pleasants moved to Indiana where they lived in Bedford and later, Washington.  By the time Damon was in the fourth grade, they moved to West Virginia where he graduated from Parkersburg High School.  He then spent two years in Morgantown at West Virginia University.

His junior and senior years in college were at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.  Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree, he entered the United States Air Force and spent three years in Morocco, North Africa. While in WVU, he was presented the Convair Award as an outstanding cadet in the AFROTC.

During his time in the Air Force, he won the Individual Pistol Championship for the 16th Air Force (Spain & Morocco).  Returning to Lexington, Dr. Pleasant remained in the Reserves and attended Dental School at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry.  He started his practice in 1968 on North Broadway.  Being introduced to sports car racing in Europe while in the military, he started racing with the Sports Car Club of America in 1973.  He won the National Championship in 1976 (C-Sedan Class).  He was presented with the Mark Donohue Award for outstanding performance at that time.

Dr. Pleasant joined the American Dental Association when he started his practice and a few years later he joined the Academy of General Dentistry.

He continued to study dentistry and in 1991 was awarded "Fellowship" status in the AGD.  He continues to study and hopes to attain "Master" level soon.

Dr. Pleasant is a past President of the Lexington Club of Kiwanis.  He has been a member of Kiwanis for over 35 years.
