What is it?
Dental Implants are the most up to date method of replacing teeth lost due to accident, disease, or decay. It's a way of anchoring natural looking artificial teeth to bone, just like real teeth are. They can help you function much better than the traditional dentures or bridges.

What are the benefits?    If you have lost one or more teeth, you can dramatically improve your appearance and actual eating ability. Implants can also preserve bone structure that can eventually deteriorate with the loss of teeth. Of course, being able to smile, talk, and eat without slipping dentures restores confidence and self esteem.

Can I have a dental implant?    Anyone who has lost one or more teeth may be a candidate for Dental Implants. There are actually very few limitations regarding who may have them. You can easily be evaluated at The Lexington Dental Center, and the consultation is free.

Do I have to go to a hospital?    No, you don't have to go to a hospital. The entire procedure can be done by the highly trained staff at The Lexington Dental Center.

Does it hurt?    Under normal circumstances, no. A large part of the procedure is completed under sedation, and any additional discomfort during the recovery period can usually be managed with over the counter medication.

What can I eat?    With the loss of teeth, a person can lose much of their ability to chew food, severely limiting choices when eating. With proper implants in place, up to 90% of chewing ability can be recovered. You can eat most anything you like!

How much is it?    Since every case is different, it is difficult to "ball park" each procedure. Dental Implants can be a permanent solution to missing teeth and should be treated as an investment. The Doctors at The Lexington Dental Center are highly trained and proficient in this procedure, and offer a free consultation to anyone considering Dental Implants. Financing is also available

How do I take care of it?    Once implants are in place, they can be cared for just like your natural teeth. Brushing and flossing, accompanied with regular dental checkups are all you need to maintain a healthy, happy smile.

INFORMATION ON MINI-IMPLANTS

Mini Dental Implants are one of the newest advancements available in dentistry. They are used to stabilize loose complete dentures or removable partials. They are much smaller in diameter (1.8mm-2.2mm) than a conventional dental implant (3.5mm-6.0 mm) but are very strong. Both kinds of implants are made from titanium.

Mini Dental Implants can be used in conjunction with conventional implants, or by themselves, to stabilize a complete denture or a removable partial. The biggest advantage of the mini implants is the fact that the dentist can place them with little or no discomfort to the patient, and the minis can be attached to your removable partial or your complete denture the same day. Conventional implants need a resting period after placement, which ranges from 3 months to 6 months depending on where in the mouth they are placed. Also, a patient whose health status prohibits him or her from having the surgery necessary to place the conventional implants can greatly benefit from Mini Dental Implants because the placement is easily tolerated and doesn’t require a more extensive surgical procedure.

For more information on the Mini Dental Implants you can log onto their website @
www.imtec.com and highlight North America, then go to patient resources and there is an article you can download called “A Patient’s Guide to Mini Dental Implants”.

Call today for an evaluation to see if Mini Dental Implants can work for you.
